Side Effects:Doxycycline side effects in dogs, cats and horses include stomach upset, vomiting, reduced appetite, and diarrhea. Giving doxycycline with food may help alleviate these GI effects. Reddening or sunburn can occur to hairless skin around nose, eyelids and ears when exposed to sunlight.Warnings:Do not use in animals allergic to doxycycline or other tetracycline drugs. Use with caution in animals with liver problems. Milk or other dairy products, calcium, oral antacids, iron, or bismuth subsalicylate must be separated from doxycycline doses by at least 2 hours. Overdoses can be very dangerous. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once. This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.

Discontinue at the first sign of a cold tingle or yellowing, or if you see a red or brown discoloration of the skin. Discontinue at the first sign of a skin rash, or a rash that doesn't stop, such as that resulting from a sunburn, or a blisters. Stop treatment and see your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences any of the following effects: - Difficulty breathing or swallowing. Weakness in the stomach. A loss of appetite.
